Humanitarian Day
It’s important not to focus on the negative events in today’s world.
Good Morning this is Doctor Joe Cincotta. Today is Humanitarian Day and is the actual date of Doctor Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday in 1929. Now you may be asking how does this have any relationship to my health? Yet it does have many connections with our health. We are surrounded with countless examples of hardship, violence, and disaster. Why is this unhealthy? In this ceaseless barrage of the negative, we fail to recognize and encourage the better side of our lives. We are in constant contact with items that have a tendency to raise our blood pressure, to heighten our anxiety, and to promote depression. These have a negative physiological affect on us. They increase chances of illness. We need to nurture and encourage the more positive and healthy practices in our lives: patience, appreciation, and assistance of our neighbors. These activities too have a physiologic impact. One that promotes health, improves lives, and benefits us.
